Chiefs' Office

The Chiefs’ Office is composed of the three elected chiefs and up to four appointed line officers (two captains, two lieutenants). Each chief is elected for a term of one calendar year and each maintains specific duties. The chiefs maintain operational authority over the squad, and the line officers act under the authority of the chiefs to assist in daily operations.

Chief (7601)

The Chief is also the Executive Director of the Harpur’s Ferry Board of Directors and utilizes radio identifier 7601. The Chief maintains ultimate operational authority of the Agency. Other duties of the chief include oversight of all elections, oversight of staff activities, facilitation of director reviews, and management of liaison with other agencies. 7601 can be reached by email at executive@harpursferry.org

Griffin Smolar

1st Assistant Chief (7602)

The 1st Assistant Chief is also the Deputy Director of the Harpur’s Ferry Board of Directors and utilizes radio identifier 7602. The 1st Asst. Chief maintains ultimate operational authority of the Agency in the absence of the Chief. Other duties of the 1st Asst. Chief include oversight of the administrative staff including the Office of Finance, Personnel and Public Relations. The Deputy Director is also in charge of the maintenance of squad certifications and contracts, and serve as the OSHA officer. 7602 can be reached by email at deputy@harpursferry.org

Hannah Rubin

2nd Assistant Chief (7603)

The 2nd Assistant Chief is also known as the Operations Director and utilizes radio identifier 7603. The 2nd Asst. Chief maintains ultimate operational authority of the Agency in the absence of the Chief and Asst. Chief. Other duties of the 2nd Asst. Chief include oversight of the operational staff which includes Vehicle Maintenance, Equipment, Technology and Communications and the Training Departments.
