Harpur's
Ferry is a 32 year-old student-run volunteer ambulance service serving the students,
staff and visitors of Binghamton University and the communities of our neighboring
departments including Binghamton, Johnson City, and Vestal via mutual-aid response.
Harpur’s Ferry responds to about seven hundred calls a year, which for the most
part occur in an 8 month period of time.
Harpur's Ferry is one of fewer then ten collegiate ambulance services in the country to have Advanced Life Support capabilities. We have two ambulances that transport the sick and injured to the local Hospitals and we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our squad is 100% volunteer, primarily consisting of Binghamton University students.
All of our riding members are New York State certified as EMT-D, AEMT-CC, or Paramedic. Our staff consists of 10 members that are in charge for administrative and operational procedures of the squad. In addition we have a Chief's Office consisting of the three Chiefs, up to two Captains, and up to two Lieutenants.
